Sweat it out!

After battling the flu for two solid weeks, I finally decided to take advice from the dog. His professional opinion? “Sweat it out.”

So that’s exactly what we did.

We headed up Nutting Hill toward Mount Watatic, right in the middle of a snowstorm. 🤣🌨️ And yes… very literally sweating it out.

At the summit, we ducked under the shelter of a big old pine tree for a snack and a full change of clothes. Blizzard conditions up there. Dry, warm fleece made the descent a little more tolerable, though “easy” would not be the right word. Spikes didn’t stand a chance against the ice hiding beneath the snow. I’ve never seen Watatic that slick.

Echo needed a helping hand more than once when his feet suddenly slid out from under him. It was a tough hike for him, which is rarely the case, and I know he’ll be sore later. Still, we made it safely back to the car.

And now? We’re happily retreating to bed for the next two days. 🐾❄️

Paws at the Summit was born from loss, resilience, and the decision to keep climbing.

This is a space for stories shaped by family, nature, and the hard earned strength that comes from rising again and again. With Echo (my grounding force and best friend) by my side, I hike trails near and far, learning that healing doesn’t happen all at once, but step by step.

Here, summits are more than destinations….they’re reminders that forward is still possible. Walk along side us as we Paws at the Summit.
